Best Practices for Running ASE 15.0 in Solaris Containers
Introduction
This document provides an overview of Solaris Containers in the Solaris 10 Operating System (OS) and guidelines for
running Sybase ASE 15.0 server in a container. Sybase ASE 12.5.2 and ASE 15.0 have been certified to run in a global
zone. This document concentrates on running an ASE 15.0 in a container in the Solaris OS, and it explains in detail the
process of creating a non-global zone appropriate for deploying a Sybase ASE 15.0 server. Additionally, it captures
special considerations for running ASE 15.0 in a container in the Solaris OS. For the remainder of this document a
“Solaris Container in the Solaris 10 OS” will be referred to as a “Solaris container” or just a “container” and it will be
assumed that it is associated with a non-global zone unless explicitly stated otherwise.
